  1. I have to say that questions #1 and #2 may not get you many responses.

The phrase, "immigration process" is pretty vague.  I don't know how I'd answer that because I've never gone through the process.  I would think only immigrants would know what the process was like, and they wouldn't know how anything changed on the peninsula because they hadn't been there to know what it was like in the first place.  I think you need to be more specific.

Are you trying to find out how people moving to Monterey from other countries are changing the area?  If so, what aspect - the kinds of things people do; involvement with neighbors; socializing at school, at the beach, in town; worship services; the types of stores or the merchandise in them?  Pick something that you are pretty sure people will have an opinion about.

Question #2 probably needs to be reworded.  The way it is now you're going to get either a yes, a no, or more likely, I don't know.  I think you're trying to get at whether some "races" have more leaders than others.  For one thing, it's probably best to use "social group" or "cultural group" instead of "race".  People get pretty sensitive to that word.

Then, you might want to make it a two part question like, "What cultural group do you most associate yourself with?" and "How many leaders of that group do you know of on the peninsula?"  You can tabulate the answers to see if people in different groups feel they have the same representation as each other.

Question #3 is fine, although I'd make the last sentence, "Name two issues that have been a concern to you in the past five years."  You do realize you'll be getting  answers to part A and part B of that question, don't you?  If you only want one you'll have to combine the two ideas.

Good luck with your survey.  Hope it gets you some interesting insights.
