  1. ABOUT.com : home cooking----------couscous. several ways to make it.

  2. You are thinking of couscous. Couscous is a wonderful, versatile pasta, made of tiny grains of dough that are steamed. It hails from Morocco and northern Algeria, and is a staple throughout North Africa. It can be served as a breakfast cereal, dressed as a salad, and sweetened for a dessert. But in it's most common use, it accompanies a stew or savory sauce, much as rice does in other cultures. Most couscous is made of wheat flour, but there are varieties made of barley, corn, and even ground acorn meal.

You need to get a package of instant couscous. Here is a website for Chicken and Zucchini couscous, but you can most certainly add whatever ingredients that you wish to the couscous.

  3. The name of this dish is 'couscous' or 'cous cous' (I've seen it spelled both ways).  You can find in in the same place you find white rice and Rice a Roni in the grocery store.  Several different companies make and sell the dry couscous' and all you have to do is follow the directions on the box.

  4. Couscous or kuskus, also called maftoul, popular in Arabic food. Good with carrots, lamb, chicken, raisins, chick peas, or in a stew, and served with tabboule salad

  6. cous cous  with harissa is great.

  7. Couscous or kuskus, called maftoul in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine is a pasta from the Maghreb of Berber origin. It consists of spherical granules made by rolling and shaping moistened semolina wheat and then coating them with finely ground wheat flour. The finished grains are about 1 mm in diameter before cooking. The Israeli variant is about twice the diameter and made of hard wheat instead of semolina. Traditional couscous requires considerable preparation time and is usually steamed. In many places, a more processed quick-cook couscous is available and is particularly valued for its short preparation time.
