Question:

Can anyone help my homebrew pouring difficulties?

At the moment the pressure in the keg is firing the stuff out leaving me with half a glass of beer and half of foam. Here are the options i think i have,

1. Let the pressure out via the cap before use - thus lifting the sediment and giving me a cloudy pint with sediment in (this leads to the squirts).

2. Leave the cap loose - the ale will probably go off?

Any suggestions?

  1. Sounds like you need to relieve the pressure in the keg.  Check to make sure your psi isn't to high for serving.  For detailed answers to your questions, morebeer.com and northernbrewer.com have forums dedicated to kegging questions.  Check them out, a wealth of information.  More than you will get here.

  2. Instead of pouring into a glass use a large clean jug,The pressure will fall soon then normality will resume.Enjoy your beer.

  3. Does your brew keg not have a (generally water filled) pressure release valve on top?

Or am I thinking of a wine keg, had both (they worked, can't remember how they worked....   good brew).

  4. Sounds like it needs to be left a bit longer to finish being so lively actually!
