Can anyone help with birthday gift idea and how to present it?

I am a guy, my friend is a girl, both 18. I want to get her a great gift, but I have no idea what will be the best ( would appreciate it if girls could give info on this) and I to give her a birthday card with the gift, but it feels so plain. I REALLY NEED HELP.

First of all you have to think about what she likes and what kind of person she is.  Does she like to pamper herself?  Maybe some bath oil, body spray and shower gel from victoria secret or bath and body works.  Does she like wine?  Would she rather get concert tickets then she would a present?  Does she have a favorite author?  Band?  You could find her something signed by that person on Ebay.  I guess the best advice to give you is what I said in the begining.  Look at the kind of person she is and figure it out from there.

I give a friend this advice, and so do to you: ask her for the best photo she has, and keep a scanned copy of it, then return it to her.
