This piece of homework is finding the spelling mistakes.

Some poisons that kill insects can also threten people. Often these pouders and sprays are used on corns, beans, and other plants we eat. Unless these these plants are scrubbed, we may eat a small amount of the poison.

We found out two of the misspellings ( threten -> threaten, and pouders -> powders) but the homework book said that there are 5 mistakes. I think that there is something wrong about the two "these" in the paragraph. Please help!

  1. Drop the "s" in corn, as it should be singular, and use only one "these".

  2. Either the book is wrong or u made a typo somewhere.

  3. corns -> corn

    these these -> these

    Not sure about the last one...

  4. threten-threaten

    pouders-powders

    corns-corn

    thats all i can find

  5. Here's what I think it should be:

         Some poisons that kill insects can also threaten people.  Often these powders and sprays are used on corns, beans, and other plants we eat.  Unless these plants are scrubbed.  We may eat a small amount of the poison.

    1.  Threten - threaten

    2.  Pouders - powders

    3.  Indent paragraph

    4.  The comma after scrubbed should be omitted.

    5.  Then the 'w' should be capitalized.

  6. Well these shouldn't be in there twice. But I can't really see anything else wrong other than threaten and powders. Maybe check punctuation.

  7. power and threatends

    thanks

    enjoy your sons work

  8. Corns ---> Corn (already plural)

    It says "these" twice in a row

    "other plants we eat" ---> "other plants that we eat"

  9. Some poisons that kill insects can also threten (threaten) people. Often these pouders (powders) and sprays are used on corns, beans, and other plants we eat. Unless these these (delete second "these")plants are scrubbed, we may eat a small amount of the poison.

  10. threaten, powder, ....plural of corn is "corn", not corns, these these, .....

  11. Unless these these plants - there should only be one "these"

    corn should be singular (corn, not corns)

    I don't see any others.  You may have automatically corrected something when you put it on here, though.
