Question:

Can anyone help with suggestions or knows of a link for sample procedures for ECG Strip Documentation?

I work as a Monitor Tech for a hospital and we as a group are trying to come up with standard procedures on how to document on the ECG strips - presently we initially write the HR, PR, QRS, QT for each shift. We document changes, pushing of meds and reports of chest pain. How can we better document - besides "RN informed". What else should we be considering... thanks for any tips or sample procedures you have. JP

  1. make sure when you write "RN informed" that you actually did talk to a RN.....it has happened where NO actual RN was notified but yet the MT's still write it down......maybe write the RN's name that you actually spoke too and the date/time.
