It says Why do you think the process of describing and naming organisms is actually one of the constraints in cataloguing global biodiversity??

Any help just understanding the question would be great thankyou??

  1. The question doesn't quite make sense, but the act of labeling organisms as belonging to this species or that makes it appear that there are bright lines dividing 'species' when in fact, all the evidence of biology is that there really aren't.  Biology is much messier than a list of species names would make you think

Naming and describing organisms could be considered a constraint in cataloging global biodiversity, because there is so much discrepancy.  Many times scientists cannot agree on wither or not organisms are actually the same species or a sub species.  Evolution is so slow that it is difficult to determine if the organisms are different enough from each other to be considered different species.  Where do you draw the line?  Another reason it could be considered a constraint, would be that there are so many organisms to name and describe that it is an impossible task.  New organisms are being discovered all the time.

    why do you think describing and naming organisms is one of the reasons in answering global biodiversity.
