I have just been thinking about global warming, melting the polar ice caps, the extinction of so many species and the destruction of rainforests and natural habitats. If you know about the deforestation, you'll know that in Africa the forests were cut down and now they are deserts, and they will be that way probably forever. Is there any hope? Is human kind completely evil or what....

  1. The world has been hit by a huge asteroid and moved on. Our impact, although not good, is nothing by comparison. Humans are not generally evil, just selfish, as are most animals.

The world is not doomed. Honestly.

  2. Depends on your definition of doomed. No, mankind isn't evil, just a bit too focused on what they perceive to be the brass ring.

Yes, there is hope. And yet, as one respondant replied, global climate change cannot be solved only by technology. There's got to be an effort to shift the way we do business, a conscious mind set that allows us to realize how valuable nature's services are to us, how much we rely on them.

I suggest you empower yourself by learning more about this phenomenon. You'll be able to engage the subject that way, and comprehend what you read and hear. We're in for a rough ride, no doubt about it, but when our backs are to the wall we tend to get things sorted out pretty quickly.

So don't just think about the ice caps and rainforests. Think about the people of Vietnam, whose nation is expected to be one of the hardest hit, and is already affected. Think about the farmers in the midwest, where extended drought and periods of heavy rainfall concentrated into much shorter bursts may become more common. Personalize this, and meet this head on, by learning, sharing what you know, contacting your elected officials, and voting.

  3. Technology will save us. A New Battery pack, a new, more efficient way of storing energy will come out. Fuel Cell Technology will develop. And I think Global Warming is just people finding something to worry about.

  4. Every species will be extinct eventually, including humans. We may be the cause of our own destruction, along with the extinction of many other species, but the planet will recover from our destructive activities with or without us.

  5. The planet/ environment/ humanity is not doomed. Honestly.

  6. Please understand the planet is always changing . But , when mans hands are involved it is for profit and control . Even in mans attempts to correct his own problems . They blame the people they have been milking out of there money for it all . Then they want those people to feel bad and pay more money to so called fixes .

  7. Take a walk, smell the flowers. The world is fine. People have been saying " The End Is Near" for as long as there have been people.

Really, you need to get out more.

  8. lol...the planet will be fine no matter what! The environment may have an occasional challenge. Mankind is safe for many hundreds of generations. Every cause and organization uses exaggerations and will twist a tale to lure you in. If you believe them all you end up in a tizzy like you are in now. Don't believe the hype!

  9. No, I'm pretty sure nobody can convince you that the world isn't coming to an end.

Some people are just predisposed to believing that the end is nigh.

  10. For those who believe no explanation is necessary, for those who do not, non will suffice.

Personally, I am now old enough to have heard many doomsday scenarios from environmentalists. Fooled me once shame on you, fooled me twice, shame on me.

Edit: One drago, please learn your hypothesis. Your hypothesis is that human influenced is the only driver of climate change during the late 20th century. A warming world is not proof that human are the cause of it.

Could you also provide your sources? I read that the north west passage was fee during the 30's.

  11. the human race is not completely evil just very, very, very, very ignorant! the planet will not entirely end either when the ice caps melt and that may not even happen if we find a way to stop it before it gets to far. yes, many will die humans, animals, and plant alike but area like mountains that are really high will not be completely sunken but who know maybe they could. but there is a chance that this might be exactly what the Earth needs. to start all over again with the many years of animals evoling into what they are today the Earth will have a chance to remake oil and coal and other natural gases that we are running out of. who knows this could be one whole big cycle that is just a day in a entirley different universe

  12. A week ago I posted an answer to a question about the climate warming trend. I received 2 thumbs up and 9 thumbs down, even though the nearest one to me, had 8 thumbs up and 2 down.

I have made this statement in dozens of answers, but have NEVER had anyone refute me about it. Why ? Because anyone can Google these and read verifiable, proven Reports and pictures.

IF, global warming ( or call it whatever you want ) is a fraud or corporate hoax as the naysayers say, then WHY is the fabled Northwest Passage, ice free for the FIRST time in its recorded history ( 1830 ) ?

WHY is the million year old glacier that feeds the sacred Ganges River in India, receding at 100' per year ?

Answers: Friction ? Aliens ? Russian plot ? Terrorists ?

WHY are hundreds of species of South American frogs going extinct in Central America ? AND SO ON.

These are called "climate anomalies" and our proven to be a direct cause of "HEAT" increases in the regions. There are 126 such "anomalies" identified world wide.

Global Warming, weather pattern changes or men from Mars, doesn't matter anymore. It's a NATURAL cycle of earth and nothing anybody or any country does or doesn't do, will stop or reverse it.

And whether your a believer or not, isn't the least bit important.........................your going to see it in all its magnificent fury and rage, that only mother nature can inflict.

  13. Blind optimism. Ya gotta love it !
