  1. It's a Dragonfly.  Dragonflies and Damselflies are similar, but Dragonflies hold their wings out like gliders when they land.  Damselflies fold their wings over their backs.

  4. It's a dragonfly.You can tell because it has its wings are at 90 degrees to the body.

    Damselflies hold theirs folded along the length of the body.

    Anyway its a male Southern Hawker dragonfly... Aeshna cyanea.

    Quite common in the UK ,tending to move Northwards in periods of good weather.

    We had one on our local nature reserve last week (County Durham).
