Question:

Can anyone identify this insect?

hi i keep finding this insect around my house and is freaking me out. it is about 1-2cm in length and is worm like. it is black and has a white underbelly. i cant see any legs but i does move quite fast.

  1. it might be a Millipede, they have lots of legs, but there legs are small and not easy to see if you dont get a good look at them.

    oops i ment Millipede not centipede sorry

  3. Sounds like a silver fish. I find them sometimes in the bathroom. As far as I know, they are harmless.

  4. It might be a moth larvae.  They can sometimes come from cereal boxes.  This can be caused by one of them laying eggs of an open box.  Are they on the walls?  Ceiling?  If you trach there movement, You might be able to track where they are coming from.

  6. It is definitely a silverfish.  They are a common household pest.  They are harmless, but can really freak you out if you have never seen one before.  Below is a link to a picture of one and a description.
