have had these for around a week and have watered them over with the sprinkler every other day.

i just have noticed that many of the leaves are starting to brown or have dark spots on them.

what might be the reason for this?

also here is the link of the picture I took of these.

Thanks for your answers!

  1. Too much water, stop watering and let dry out at least a week

Additional Information, I would take the pot out of the ground, pick off the dead leaves, let it dry out.

Mine dry out completely and it doesn't hurt them at all.

Then take them out of the pot and replant them in the ground, or keep them in a larger planter. The plastic container you have them in won't allow them to dry enough, If you want to put the plant back in the ground in a pot make it a clay pot, because they are porous the roots wont drown. If the roots arn't too damaged the plant should recover.  Good luck with your plant.

  2. In the absence of live problems ie aphids, mealybugs, leafhoppers etc, likely to be a fungal disease, very much aggravated by overhead watering.. Possibly you are watering too much. If the ground stays moist, (may still be moist underneath even though visible surface looks dry)..don't water. When you do water, try to do so without wetting leaves, perhaps with watering can minus it's rose.May help to cut away severely attacked leaves/stems and discard/burn.

PS. If it were me I'd remove the worst affected stems whilst trying to leave healthy new shoots intact and yes, apply a fungicide, to treat the plants and soil. In severe cases the ultimate solution, if the plants don't recover, may have to be discard the plants AND the soil they are in......lets hope it doesn't come to that eh :-) Good luck
