I got a blowgun. I'm pretty sure it's from some sort of indigenous group. Does anyone recognize the markings?

Pictures are of the blowgun itself and a carrying case for darts.

  1. it is indigenous, however i can not place the nation that it belongs to..i am Cherokee..we have blow guns but,it does not look like one of ours...if i am correct it almost looks like one from the rain forest people...also I'm wondering if the markings are of a bird on the first photo..it could be new,our blow guns were long, this one seems short..a reason that i would think that it is new, could belong to the natives here but do not think so....

  2. Are you sure it isn't a flute?

  3. Are all blowguns made of bamboo then? haha I would have thought it was a medicine man's flute but I daydream alot haha. It is quite beautiful though and reminds me alot of some of the Indians of the Pines as wow. how clever, a younger, narrower boo that slips inside an older, wider, more hollow one making different sounds and effects.  But I imagine some artisans make such clever things even today so how do you know how old it is?

Hmmm, does bamboo have rings like a tree then?

Very fascinating and interesting item you have yourself there and yes, that really does look like a lil butiki haha... lizard, or sorry. Don't know my reptiles... does bamboo grow in mexico too?

Ok, I looked it up cuz you had me so curious. Tribal Weapons, Bamboo Quiver with handle and the overall materials and markings really do look like they be from Borneo, though I was always curious about the slave trade among the Aborigines of Australia, Philippines and other surrounding Indonesia and the connection to Mexico and other Native American Indians. But I only took a quick peek so I could be wrong but it sure is close match.

These kind of things could turn up in alot of unusual places but bet it might help trace the migration trail of some of the forgotten ghost soldiers and slaves and stuff like that I imagine, but as far as I know tis just a fraction of a much larger puzzle and so many theories.
