Can anyone in the welterweight division beat miguel cotto?

Undefeated puerto rican star is in the top p4p lists and ranked top 2 in welterweights but can he lose to anyone thats not named floyd mayweather jr. I think he can beat anyone including mayweather but can cotto beat margarito, williams, cintron, and de la hoya. Can he lose to anyone in the division, and if mayweather succeeds to avoid cotto and cotto goes undefeated KO'ing the big names will mayweather be forced to fight cotto?

Mayweather must REALLY want to avoid Cotto, if he'd stoop down to WWE. He's not even doing real fighting anymore.

Cotto is a superstar still on the rise, he has proven to have strength, determination, and good chin, the only challenge I see is mayweather, but he is no hurry to get in there with Cotto, he would rather do pro wrestling, MMA, or whatever, but until these two get it on, we will never know if anyone can beat Cotto.

I would have to say the only huge threat to him is Mayweather, but seems like these days he's not concentrating on boxing as much. I would have once said De La Hoya, but it seems that he has just about come to the end of his boxing career...

I won't waste a lot of time on this question. MAYWEATHER! I really like Cotto, but he's not in Pretty Boy's class.

1. Mayweather has never fought Bernard Hopkins. 2. Mayweather fears no one and that includes Cotto and 3. If they did fight Cotto would not make it to the 11th round believe me.  Mayweather is that sharp and accurate.  Ask Ricky Hatton and Arturo Gatti the last 2 boxer-punchers he fought who claimed they had Floyd's number.

Margarito, Cintron, Williams...they all have a good chance of beating Cotto.

I give much respect to Mayweather he's a force to be reconed with but Cotto Is a SERIOUS Up & coming Superstar.... So I couldn't really decide but I do know that the ONLY COMPLETE OPPONENT Floyd Ever fought was Bernard Hopkins and if you really watch that fight Mayweather did NOT Impress many people....

Now On The Other Hand Every opponent Cotto fought

The only guy that might beat Cotto is Maywether but he's to busy avoiding this fight.

When he fought De La Hoya, and asked by Larry Merchant about a fight with Cotto he said he was going to retire and month later accepted to fight Hatton.

When he fought Hatton and was asked  by Larry Merchant again, if he would fight Cotto now, he said that he was going to take a vacation of a year or 2 and now he has already a fight schedule with De La Hoya for this year. What happened to the vacation????

Probably the next step for Maywether after the 2nd fight with De La Hoya is moving up to 154 lbs. just to continue avoiding Miguel Cotto.

People know Cotto as a great puncher but they forget that he has out-speeded and out-boxed 3 of the most quickes and better boxers in the division (Malignaggi, Judah, Mosley). I grant that Maywether are more quicker than all 3 fo them but none of them have also the punching power and the stamina to maintain pressure on Maywether all 12 rounds, not like De La Hoya and Judah who had success for certain rounds only due to the lack of condition that Cotto has and can maintain that success  for the whole fight

Another issue is that defensive style that has given success to Maywether so far by using his shoulder to cover part of his face including his chin. The only weekness that this creates is that the body is more exposed while doing this and we all know that the best body puncher in these divisions and probably in the sport is MIguel Cotto.

Like I said at begining of my answer the only boxer that MIGHT beat Cotto is Maywether but I don't think not even he can beat Cotto.

Yeah, Floyd Mayweather can fairly easily. I also think that Berto could give Cotto a run for his money if they fought in about 24 months time.

i think cotto would have his hands full with margarito because he will be the biggest and strongest fighter he's ever fought. margarito has a granite chin and good power and stamina, i would lean towards margarito.

williams probably could keep cotto at bay for a while using his height and reach but i think cotto would eventually break him down and stop him.

cintron is also a big welterweight but is a mentally weak fighter in my opinion, and won't like the pressure cotto would put on him. cintron has a puncher's chance but i think cotto would win.

josh clottey would also be a difficult fight because of clottey's defense and his combination punching. clottey has stamina issues though and isn't really a big puncher so if he doesn't get a knockout in the early rounds i think cotto would outwork him to a decision win.
