Can anyone let me know what is a typical Mediterranean cuisine ? Also what are included in a typical Mexican?

dish ? I have once had a Mexican dish but never Mediterranean ! I am from India.

I am currently spending the year living in Israel, and there is a lot of pita breads, and laffa bread (which is similar), and many fresh vegetables.  Falafel is very big, as is any other chickpea product.  Shawarma is also very popular, and is usually made of lamb.  There are many types of borekas, which are filled puff-pastry/filo dough, usually filled with cheese, potato, spinach, mushrooms, or eggplant.  Oh, eggplant is a very popular food.  And many things have sesame seeds on them.  One spice that I see a lot here that I haven't seen outside of Israel is zatar, which is quite good.

And baklava and halva (a sweetened sesame-seed product) are common--and very mediterranean--deserts.

A classic salad is made of cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, dressed with lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic (although subject to much variation.)

There is more, but that is all I can think of right now...

There are different varieties of Mediterranean cuisine, but I am familiar with the food from Italy and Greece,

From southern Italy (like Sicily) fresh fish (like swordfish), pasta, and fresh fruits is common. Examples are Tona Ammatutnatu (tuna with fresh peas) and Spaghetti alla Norma (pasta with eggplant).

Greek food tends to be lamb, greens, and also fruits. Spices typically used include oregano, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Some common dishes are dolmathes (lamb w/rice stuffed in grape leaves and a lemony sauce), avgolemono soup (egg-lemon), and pastitio (looks like lasagna but tastes very different).

Olive oil is used in both types of cooking.
