Yes take the World Poker Tour (WPT) for example, people on their win tremendous money, I win a lot at my local casino, but it takes skill to win, or lose it a very difficult game, but if you learn and study the games you should make quite a bit of money.

I won an online poker tournament for £6,500 which in poker terms is nothing, funny thing is I cannot be bothered with the game, keep saying to my wife I will have to start playing more often, the tournament only lasted 7 hours so it aint bad pay, but what are the chances of winning 1 every week, so I only play occasionally in low entry tournament so never gonna earn a living from it, but I know someone from my town that is 23 and so far this year his online winnings on 1 site alone (he also plays live tournaments - came 3rd in a big one last year and got £ 25,000) is £ 80,000 with clear profit of £ 43,000 and thats where the problem lies, although he has made a decent profit, his tournament entries have cost £ 37,000, which of course he will have paid for with his winnings but I have seen some peoples stats where there winnings is £ 0 and the tournament entries are £ 15,000, thats when it gets dangerous.

Poker is good is you know how to play and have good self control to not spend more than you have.

Horse racing gambling is really only for a fun day out to have the odd flutter or for very rich gamblers that will put thousands on a odds on favorite, thats the only way to make a living on horses, you can occasionally get lucky on an outsider, but that won't earn you a living, you need big money to bet, but you also need to be able to lose big money when the favorite loses.

In a casino i.e. roulette, I can't honestly see anyone making a real living out of that unless they are mega rich very very lucky
