You should have a look on trademe under reborn dolls as NZ has a lot of artists who are actually pretty good. You will also find dolls by The Baby Maker there as well and she is Australian based but does sell over there. Lots of photos on trademe so you can choose the baby of your choice.

Are you sure that your friend wants one?  I don't mean to sound insensitive to your gift idea however, this could be very upsetting to your friend.  

On a side note, a woman left her Reborn baby in a carseat in her car while shopping and was quite upset to find the police had to break out her window when she couldn't be located to save her baby.  You might want to warn her police are not trained to wait and determine if the child laing flopped over in the seat when it is 90 degrees outside is real or not.  If it looks real they will try to rescue the child.
