Question:

Can anyone name ONE major scientific organization that says global warming isn't real and mostly caused by us?

Since some people question the scientific consensus on global warming, I'm interested if someone can come up with an answer. Of course some individual scientists disagree, but that's true of other scientific facts like evolution.

Think tanks like the Competitive Enterprise Institute, or political sites like heartland are not scientific organizations.

  1. I believe humans really do make most of the global warming happen. Just my opinion.

  2. The DNSC comes about as close as an organization can while still remaining neutral about the debate.

    http://www.spacecenter.dk/research/sun-c...

"DNSC is basing its effort in this area on own scientific results – observational, experimental, and theoretical. The scientific results have been published internationally and indicate that the varying activity of the Sun is indeed the largest and most systematic contributor to natural climate variations. The effect goes through solar modulation of the cosmic radiation, which affects the formation of aerosols and thereby also the formation of clouds. Even though a physical mechanism connecting cosmic rays to aerosol formation has been found experimentally, no climate model has yet made an attempt to include such an effect.

That there exists a significant contribution from solar activity variations to global temperature increase does not, however, exclude other contributions to the rising global temperature, natural as well as human. DNSC, however, is focused on establishing the best possible and scientifically based evaluation of the size of solar induced effects on climate."

Translation from PC speak:  We won't publicly state man's role in climate change is insignificant...we're just going to focus our efforts on studying the REAL cause of climate change.

  3. no one can name such an org coz global warming is real n it is very much caused by us. i think people who question this fact are either running away from facts n thereby their duties of preserving the earth or are completely ignorant about it.

  4. The Republican Party

  5. You already asked this question, and you still don't know what  scientific "fact" is, do you? Darwin would never call his *theory* a fact--because he couldn't. That is not the scientific method. Because you cannot reproduce the results of evolution in a lab, it can never go beyond theory.

  6. Can anyone name one scientific organization that disagrees with me, but it cannot be an organization that I disagree with?

    Are you serious?

  7. Kaiser Foundation Psychological Research Division

  8. Wow, this is the fifth or sixth time you've asked this.  Get your own opinion and stop looking for other people to tell you what to think.

  9. The organisations you quote are generally not involved in scientific research.  They are mainly unions.

What about the New Zealand Climate Science coalition?

It's also not a few scientists.  Most geologists seem to be skeptical of human influence in climate.

  10. Someone, it could have been you for all I recall, mentioned this site as having information and links to "both" sides of the issue.  I have to admit, I hadn't looked much at the "other" side, those who don't join in the majority of scientists who endorse the concept and efforts to combat global climate change.  Since I'm getting ready to sit down and start writing an article on the subject, and since you posed the question, I decided to take another look at the matter.

To answer your question I clicked most of the links under 'Skeptical Views.'  Not one site could offer me anything close to some of the great sites I've found with information on this crisis.

Based on that and extensive research, I have to conclude that the answer to your question is no, there is no major scientific organization making that claim.

Edit in response to Evans_Michal_ya: The next line in the text reads:

"Climate is subject to influences by both natural and human forces, including greenhouse gases, aerosols, solar activity, and land use change."

But thanks for the site, I didn't have that one! And it led me to this one, the Danish Ministry of the Environment.

  11. There are no scientific organizations taking either side- they are too busy doing scientific work.  The only organizations making any claims about global warming are political groups.

  12. there isnt one. because it is TRUE.

people who doubt it are like people who didn't believe the universe or the evolution theory. Eventually some will change and others stay. like there are always idiots who think they can fly. u cant help what people think because their brain compacity is limited.

  13. No. OK, a little more detail without beating a dead horse.

Very few individual scientists doubt global warming. Most that do get their money or prestige from vested political and industrial interests. They bring up pseudoscience and refer to themselves. Back in 1968 in NC we were trying to get attention focused on the data. And yes, Al Gore was there then. Individual scientists have been jumping up and down may and shouting through the 20th century.

The warming started well before that. "Mostly" caused by us is not certain. We don't know. For sure the shape rate of change has has occurred since industrial development. We have caused most of that. Once started, it is doubtful now that it can be stopped until it runs its course. Currently the change is ever increasing and is now about 10X what we predicted in 1970.  Michael

  14. THE CCFC.

    Christian Cow f**t Coalition

  15. Can you name one major scientific organization that does not stand to gain a whole bunch of money by perpetuating the concept of human caused global warming?

  16. Consensus does not constitute proof. Name one legitimate Sicientific organization that has stated that "Global Warming" has been PROVEN to be our (mankinds) fault and simply not just part of the natural weather cycles.

Scientific Consensus said there was no such thing as the Mountain or Lowland Gorilla.

Scientific Consesus said the Coelacanths had been EXTINCT for over 6 million years until fisherman were bring up live specimens

Scientific Consesus said all dinosaurs were cold blooded, now that opinion is changing.

Scientific Consesus said that man would never fly, orbit the earth or walk on the moon.  Opps Science proved itself wrong there too.

Just curious, if Evolution is a FACT as you claim (I've yet to hear a scientist make that statement) why is it still called the THEORY of Evolution ?  The word THEORY basically means it's not a fact yet.

  17. No, the data is pretty clear that the planet has been warming for the past 120+ years, that the warming is accelerating, that greenhouse gases warm planets, and that earth's warming has corresponded with increased greenhouse gas levels (both now and during most past periods of natural warming).

The sun may have played a role in starting past warmings due to the earth;s orbital variations and changes in energy output, but it has been ruled out as a cause of current warming.

There are individual scientists who seem to write industry-supporting articles as the primary source of their income, but the major, established scientific organizations don't fall for their propaganda.
