Can anyone name any cities or small towns where black widow spiders are found in the state of wisconsin?

  1. Black Widows are found about 45ºN, its a very common misconception that they can't be.  Here in Alberta we have Black Widows as far north as Red Deer, and that is well past 45ºN.  In fact they are also found in Southern Ontario and Saskatchewan.  They just become more rare as you head north.

    Black widows are found in barns, sheds, stone walls, fences, woodpies, porch furniture and other outdoor structures.


  2. Not up there, too cold for them.

    In general, they like dark places. Inside closets, behind sheds or wood piles. That kind of thing.

  3. Black widow spiders are not found past the 45° latitude.  A quick search indicates Rice Lake, Wisconsin is north of the 45° latitude and probably does not have black widow spiders.  You'll have to go farther south to find one.
