Can anyone open a charity shop?

I was wondering about opening a charity shop, how would you go about it.?

what do I need to know.? considering i know nothing.?

  1. I would suspect it would need to be in the name of a registered charity?


  2. you would need to think of /have a registered name.

    Also you have to go through the proper channels to get it classified as a charity.

    I am not sure what all of these are now.

    You have to go to the courthouse and advertise your company in the paper for three weeks as well as file classification papers with the State and Federal IRS

    You would need a building zoned for commercial interests

  3. yes but u need planning permits and so on......................... but u need to start up a charity first and that takes a lot of work!

    you need a liscence, all we know, you could be taking stuff for yourself to sell for your own needs.

  5. probably worthwhile getting a part time job with oxfam for example and learning the trade.  No point trying to run before you can walk
