  1. Yeah, probably the best (free) antivirus software. Obviously, there are some better choices for a lot more money, but this is a fine piece of software.

  2. used it for yonks, its great, jsut remebr to run th scan once in a while, as its not got real0tiem scanning liek paid for version. its cought a few virus, and the new version spots adware too.

Also new version has a FF3 Add-on wiht it that wil lscan your downloads for virus's and on google it will tell you f hte links are malware free or not.

Also its the most popular downlaod on Cnet/Downlaod.com, so they can't be wrong.

  3. avg8.0 is a awesoe sorce for REMOVING Viruses not finding and it wont delete tracking cookies its good i recoomend that u should hav 4 of the following program spybot search and destroy,ad aware, registrey doctor ..

  4. I've used AVG since version 6.0; I vouched for it up until version 8. Its background services use a substantial amount of memory. Needless to say, it's become very much like Norton.

There ARE ways to bypass the horrid memory consumption, but it's such a pain in the ***, it's barely worth it.

Avast Free Edition is decent, if you can tolerate the unavoidable pop-up 2-3 times a day telling you to buy it. But even AVG found certain viruses on my system that Avast didn't.

  5. I used it for years and it spotted a lot of problems.  It is good and it is free.

  6. I've been using it for years and never had a problem.

  7. yea i love avg free verson especally the new one at free.avg.com its awsome and alwase finds at least 50 warnings 2 spyware and 1 virus everytime on slow scan

  8. yea..AVG helped detect and delete 2 trojan horses

  9. No. AVG 7.5 was excellent but you should forget AVG 8 free edition it has a nice interface but is poor at blocking viruses so not worth using.

I've tested both Avast Home Edition (free) and AVG 8.0 (free), AVG let me save 75% of the test viruses to my hard drive only blocking 25% were as Avast blocked 75% of viruses, Avast picked up the other 25% of the viruses that were in zip files the second I tried to extract them.

I use Avast combined with Comodo Pro on my XP home computer and have no problems with virus's or spyware.
