A respiratory poison is added into water that contains Paramecium sp. Explain the effect of poison on the movement of substance R into paramecium sp. (substance R is transported across the plasma membrane via active transport)

  1. Transport of solut particles aginnist concentration gredient using energy is called active trasport.

    All most all living organisms get energy in the form of A.T.P with the help of aerobic metabolic activities,if poison R prevent the aerobic metabolic activities,synthesis of A.T.P will stops,without energy organism can't survive.    


  2. Active transport requires the use of  ATP to drive the uptake of substance R.

    The poison would stop respiration and thus the production of ATP (the product of aerobic respiration) and so uptake of R would stop.
