Can anyone please help setting up a sony bravia tv with a sony bravia dvd recorder.?

I have an aerial into and out of the dvd rec to the tv and a scart between the two. after i have run easy set up, there is no programme schedule info in the guide screen page .The book says it can take 24 hours to download but it never arrives, and being a dvd recorder instruction book illiterate, i'm at a loss.

Please help if you can.
