Can anyone please recommand on good treks in Costa Rica?

Montezuma, is not expensive and is a awesome place. small town with restaurants, bars, shops, the beach, the 2 rivers with waterfalls... you can jump and swim in those falls, also there is horseback riding, canopy, kayak, diving and lots more. go online and check it...

The only one that I can think of is the ascent of Chirripo mountain-- on a clear day (relatively rare occurrence) you can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.  

Other than that, I know that it is possible to hike from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve to the La Fortuna area but special permission is needed.

The Lonely Planet Guidebook is also a good bet for options.
