Can anyone please recommend a suitable digital camera that meets the following reqs?

Here in the states we have the Cannon A-590. Maybe it is available there as well. Seems to meet your specs.

Ask in your local photographic shop - they may have a pre-owned camera = bargain.

Your difficulty may be in finding a camera with an optical viewfinder.

All that over 4 megapixels give you is the ability to make enormous enlargements.
