Can anyone pls tell me if it is possible to buy a diesel run motorbike for road use in the uk thanks ?

I live in Northern Ireland and I have asked about diesel bikes.

Unfortunately I don't think you can buy a diesel bike from any mainstream manufacturer because they were tried and were not popular.

I think the main issue is that diesel engines tend to run at very low revolutions of the engine, they are heavier than petrol engines and their performance is not anywhere near as good.

Some of the advantages of bikes is their acceleration and their nippiness in traffic and the diesel engines simply cannot deliver it and so they are not commercially viable. The only advantage diesels offer is their fuel consumption, and for bikes, this is not such an issue.

If you could find one, I am sure it would be legal, but I have never seen one.

With enough Money, anything is possible but as far as I know diesel bikes are only available to the Military.

A google search shows many homemade ones as well as military construction.

What about buying a Polaris 4-wheeler diesel engine and putting it in a motorcycle frame?
