  1. Your dad was trying to let you win.  You made quite a few mistakes, and he overlooked some good moves.

First, some people do what you do and put their knights into action fast.  That's a bad idea.  You should move some of your pawns into a defensive position first.  This will open it up so your officers can move out, hide behind them, or use them as support.  You moved your officers out first, moved a few pawns, then moved your officers back.  Basically you were wasting moves.  And look at the board at the end...your officers, who do the most damage, hardly moved from their positions.

Also, what was the point of moving your rooks 1 position and leaving them there?  Leave them in their original spots, and move your knights and bishops out.  That way you can castle if need be, and your rook will be able to travel greater distances.

19 wasn't the big mistake, it was 20.  by eating his pawn, you gave the rook the ability to eat its way to battle.

Black did a good job.  Opening half ot the board to set up a defense, and then moving out the officers.  Sometimes you need to skip killing a piece so that you can get your piece into the right position at the right time.  Your dad's weakness is that he focuses on a center attack.  If you use your bishops, you can probably get in there to cause some damage.

Also, going queen for queen isn't always the best move.  I will send my queen to be sacrificed if I want to get rid of your queen and I can survive without mine.  Most newbies will go for it and go, "ah ha, I've weakened you!"  while I've opened them up to an attack.

  2. Heres a quick overview.  You should probably start with Nf3 not Nc3.  Nf3 is better because it helps in getting your king out of the center faster by castling.  Some other common mistakes by white were that during the early stages he play moves like h4 and rb1.  This does nothing to finish your development your get your king out of the center.  Moves like bg2 and 0-0 would have been better.  I just quickly went through the game but I saw that you just missed taking his c6 knight with your pawn.  Loose pieces drop off.  If you want a full analysis of your game email me at ziggy07@telus.net
