Can anyone provide info about Calvert School's Homeschooling program?

A few years back, I was nearly enrolled in the program, but unfortunately, I continued with public schooling.

By the looks of it, the curriculum was great, and promoted creativity, imagination, and fun whilst learning, which are the two main factors that children miss out on at school these days.

I know that Former Supreme Court Judge Sandra Day O'Connor was a part of the Calvert program while she was growing up.

I know that Calvert is the one American school that is known and respected overseas (in my country).

I also know that my country almost always seems to score higher than the USA on the education rankings (maths, science, reading etc).

Therefore, given that people here still think Calvert is a good school (in comparison to our own!), I'd say it has to be a good, strong, top class school. It's definitely seen here as being a much respected and trusted education brand (and our's is a country of born cynics, lol!).

My parents used Calvert some years ago when I was 10 years old. From what I can tell it hasn't changed much as far as curriculum. It was a GREAT program since it promotes creative thinking and critical thinking. The one thing I remember the most is the history book in 5th grade (or maybe 4th grade?) that talked about the history of the world in the words of a child. I learned so much from it. The writing activities were great and I STILL use some of the techniques I learned.

I would really recommend it. I feel like it provided a very strong foundation for me as I got older.

They have options of either grading the papers on your own or you can send papers to a teacher at the school for grading. They provide all the books and even paper and pencils.
