I am looking for a good peer reviewed journal for early childhood education, but I am not sure where to look. I haven't done much teaching yet, but I will be soon and I would like something that will be useful but not so boring that I don't want to read it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. The Eye magazine is well worth checking out, they have a website as well., full of informative and a good mix of practical and theory, not at all dull.

  2. Some good peer-reviewed ECE journals:

    Early Childhood Education http://ecec.teachers.ab.ca/Early+Childho...

    Early Childhood Research Quarterly

    http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journal...

    http://www.naeyc.org/pubs/ecrq/default.a...

    Young Children

    http://journal.naeyc.org/

    Dimensions of Early Childhood

    http://library.sullivan.edu/periodicals/...

If you use ERIC to research a particular topic, the information given on each article tells you if it's from a peer-reviewed journal or not. I read that you can limit the search to peer-reviewed articles, but couldn't find that option. http://www.eric.ed.gov/

  3. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has a magazine called Young Children which you receive as part of your membership. go to their website for information. Each issue is full of articles written by people working with young children. It has researched based articles as well as practical suggestions.
