  1. Pension Yorkstrasse on Grossbeeren Strasse and Yorkstrasse.

U-bahnhoff is Merringdam. That would be about 10 minutes by subway to the center.  It's small, inexpensive and homey.  I used to stay there with my band.

  2. I used Hotel Am Anhalter Bahnhof inStressemannstraße for many years.  It is a hotel Garni.

    Here's a link. http://hotels.germany-bookings.com/hotel...

  3. Berlin Plaza just off Ku Damm three star bed and breakfast for two people cost around fifty pounds.Price is current we were there last month.

  4. Park inn Hotel .alexandra platz ,good location for brandenburg gate.

  5. I was in Berlin 3 times. The Hotels: Best Western, Intercontinental, Savoy Hotel. The prices are for double so round 75 Euro with breakfast buffet and all 3 hotels was near Kurfuerstandamm, near Zoo, downtown Berlin.

  6. Hotel Tiergarten in Alt Moabit. About 200m from Turmstrasse UBHf on line U9 and 10mins walk from Belvue SBHf (2 stops from the Zoo and 1 from the new Berlin HBHf).

It's about 25 mins stroll through the park to the Zoo and the Europa Center complex. Very friendly private hotel.

B & B cost about €40 - €50 per night dending on when you stay.

You'll not find better breakfast anywhere in Berlin at that price.

Now answer my question about Thai restaurants in Berlin.

  7. As you don't give a price limit: The Westin Grand at Friedrichstraße. Excellent Service, not far away from the very central station Friedrichstraße and great comfort.

  8. Yes I can. I visit Berlin very frequently so know a lot of Hotels there. It does however depend what you mean by Berlin City Centre..!

The actual geographic centre is the newest area - where all of the new Government offices and the new cinemas, theatres etc are around the Potsdamer Platz. As this is all so very new - some people regard it is maybe a little soulless. obviously there are two futher Berlin 'Centres' - the old centre of West-Berlin, and the old centre of East-Berlin - which have both retained a lot of the character that they has when the city was divided.

I know the old West-Berlin the best:

If ou are looking for cheap but good - try MotelOne at Moritzplatz - it is one of those French style Motel/Hotel places. You can even book in at 3am, via a computerised check-in. It is incredibly good value for money and cheap, yet comfortable and modern - and everything is ensuite. I have stayed there a few times.

Over in Schoeneberg - where the Ka De We is - ie the old centre of West-Berlin - the hotel Arco is quite good valur for money. Not very modern, could do with a facelift - but clean, tidy, ensuite, and bang slap in the middle of the old west area - directly off Kurfuerstendamm - yet quiet so you wouldn't know you were in the heart of a city.

In the East, I can't reccommend a hotel as I haven't stayed there much - but the old 'centre' would be anywhere between Unter den Linden and Alexanderplatz - however there is a lot going on around Oranienburgerstrasse also.

There are hundreds of Hotels in Berlin - of all different classes and types - what I suggested are just two cheap and good hotels - but you can have whatever you can afford in Berlin.

Remember also that transport in Berlin is cheap, convenient and 24 hours - so you don't need to worry if you stay slightly outside the centre - you can always get to wherever you want to.

Hope this helps, and enjoy Berlin - my favourite city in the world!
