Can anyone reccommend a good Chinese buffet restaurant in Chinatown? (London)?

I am researching for my sister's 40th in a few weeks time. There will be a group of around a dozen of us aged between 10 and 60+ and we want to make it a special day so it needs to be a fairly decent place- she has become a bit of a Chinese restaurant buff in her home town! She doesn't live in London so I will have to try it out for her beforehand- such a chore...NOT. It doesn't have to be Chinatown, but that is the most central place for most of us to get to so... Any advice gratefully received.

  1. Generally the buffet restaurants are at the bargain end of the scale. When my family eat in China Town we eat at HK Diner in Wardour Street. This is what they say of themselves:

London's hip and trendy Chinese restaurant (which others try to copy and fail!) We serve all your favourite dishes and more, with our classic, bubble pearl tea and HK milk shake. No bookings, so arrive early as we are often busy. Open until 4am 7 days a week.

  2. TRY "Eliments"

  3. There is a great chinese named won kei at the end of china town.  Its fantastic and i would recomend it to anybody.  Hope you all have fun.

  4. Won Kei's every time for a talbe that size.

    what a larff!!!

  5. Rather than a buffet, have you thought about dim sum? I'd highly recommend the New World just off Shaftesbury Avenue, in Gerrard Place. It's on several floors, and the food comes round on trolleys, so you can choose what you want when you want. I've been there loads of times, and each time is a blast. Dim Sum is different enough that it's not found often in your traditional Chinese restaurant / take-away, so worth a try for something different. It's a bit like a Chinese tapas! Oh, and because it consists of lots of little dishes, the bill doesn't tend to be extortionate, either, which is always a blessing.

  6. I usually go to Mr. Wu with a couple of friends and we always get great service (nice, considering they don't charge 10% service charge! unlike other restaurants!). Its a buffet style restaurant in China town, which caters for groups. I have never had a bad meal there yet.
