I am going to buy a laptop and I want to be able to use ProE or maybe auto CAD on it. Dell recomended a "512DDR3 NVIDIA GEFORCE Go7950 GTX graphics card" But the problem I have with this is it makes it very expensive and it can only fit in a Laptop with a 17'' screen. This makes it difficult to trasport. Could i get a smaller graphiscs card to fit in a 15.4'' or 15'' laptop? Or is it possible to get the requirements for ProE in a 15'' screen?

  1. your asking a laptop to do the work of a high end desktop, have you tried contacting the software company, and get their recommendations, the graphics programs you are using use alot of graphics processing, you can go with something cheaper, but will be sluggish, and sssssslowwwwww. possably take a few minuets to redraw rather than a few seconds.

as for portability, laptop backpacks are widely available,

hard core gamers who need high end video processing for lan parties have small cubes or small towers with a flat monitor. laptops don't have the video processing, cooling or configurable necessary. even if you get the laptop, the video will make it run quite hot for that much video processing.

  2. Dell Precision M4300 / M4400
