Question:

Can anyone recommend a cheap but nice way to arrive at our wedding in Glasgow ?

We've been looking at wedding cars but they all cost £300+ for a journey that would cost under a tenner in a taxi. It's only one trip as the ceremony and reception are at the same place.

We really, REALLY don't want a stretch limo or a hummer. We quite fancied something unusual like the white VW convertibles but they're really dear too. The cheap wedding cars are BMWs or mercedes and they look a bit ordinary.

Any suggestions ?

  1. Just get a taxi - who cares what people think, or do you know anyone with a fancy car who could give you a lift?

  2. Have a look on some of the webites for classic cars.... go to some of the classic car shows... theres one in Aug at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire & another one very soon in Hamilton I think.   Approach the owners of cars & make them an offer!

My fiance has a white capri, we live in Ayrshire.

  3. might sound stupid or silli

but horse and carridge or a old fasion car like in 60s if you no where am come from :)

    hope this helps

  4. Hiring cars for weddings dates back to the days when only the rich owned cars, we have moved on now most people either own or know someone who owns a car ask them they will probably feel very honoured to have been asked so why waste £300 of your hard earned cash.  You could persuade a friend with a nice car to put a white sheet over the back seat and some ribbons on the front of the car (these cost about £4 from my local card shop) maybe you could suggest this in lieu of a wedding gift.

My husband has a silver Volvo S80 full leather interior etc and it looks stunning when we have used it as a wedding car for friends (in their and our opinion it's far nicer than those tacky Limos, that are held together with bits of tape painted over)

  5. What about a horse and cart? There are specialised companies that have beautifully decorated carriages especially for weddings. Much more romantic than some boring old car.

  6. Get youre daddy to drive you, its free and dont care what ppl think.

You will spend the last moments of youre single life with the man who will love you no matter what.

Jazz the car up with streamers etc.

    Youre dad would love it.

    Good Luck x*x

  7. I know it's a but unusual, but you could hire a bus. Check out this link - http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/scotland...

This company also does horse & carriage, vintage and classic cars - http://www.scottishweddings.org/glasgowc...

Hope you find something suitable and have a great day when it comes!

  8. maybe just hiring a convertable? or a spots car that takes your fancy?

if you want to save money dont go through a "wedding car" company.....

  9. Hire a prison van. It will remind the groom what he is in for! LOL
