I wanted to go to Mexico for a few weeks to learn spanish. There are a ton of options. I was wondering which cities were safe and fun. Is Veracruz safe feeling? There is an awesome program there.

  1. Veracruz is a fantastic city and you would be safe going to school there.  It IS hotter than Hades from April to Nov. every year.  Another option wold be the capital of the state of Veracruz...Xalapa.  It is in the mountains so has a much more pleasant climate.  A beautiful and fascinating city.  See site below for the program info. The program you found in Veracruz city is probably also through the University of Veracruz.   You would love Xalapa and the whole region...I live in a small town about 20 min. from the building where this program is taught in the heart of Xalapa. I have know several people who have done the program there and they spoke highly of it.

  2. Cuernavaca -- it is about 1 hour south of Mexico City in a great location in central/southern Mexico.  In Cuernavaca, I would recommend "Universidad Internacional":

They have a beautiful campus, and the host family experience is wonderful.  From Cuernvaca, it is easy to take day trips/weekend trips in your free time to other exciting destinations around central Mexico, such as Mexico City, Tepoztlan (and Tepozteco Pyramid), Puebla and Cholula, Taxco, Xochicalco, Oaxaca and Monte Alban, Acupulco, etc.

  3. There is a Spanish immersion school in Ensenada, BC.

They can even hook you up with a family to stay with while you study.

  4. you should look into cuernavaca, there are some good spanish schools over there, besides the city is very interesting, a lot to see and do, about hour and a half from mexico city, very calm and exelent weather
