Can anyone recommend a credit card system for home?

I have a small home business and am researching the best options for how I can process a customer charge to their credit card, if needed.

Can you recommend a good program to purchase or alternatives that I can consider? Are there cell phone companies that offer any kind of wireless contraption that you know of?

So far, I am not interested in the ones offered online because they have annual fees and per-transaction fees. Sounds a little costly, but maybe that's normal.

  1. Yes the least expensive by far is Sam's Club Merchant Program. And I highly recommend you ask them which machines they allow then go to Ebay and buy your own. All credit card service companies will try to get you to buy theirs for $800-$1500. I was able to buy the exact same brand new machine for $150. I have owned and operated my own companies for 35 years and know what I am talking about by learning the hard way. They also sell the wireless remote units that you can take with you.You can also get your customers credit card number on the phone and enter it yourself on your machine. Any questions let me know.

  2. I have heard good things about ProPay. All  programs charge fees, usually an annual fee and a per transaction fee.  That's how they make their money. ProPay has several different plans depending on how many transactions you expect to have.  They are worth looking at.
