I'm looking for somewhere a little bit different to take my boyfriend on his birthday next week. I don't mind spending decent money on somewhere special. Can anyone recommend somewhere with really good food, and amazing decor?

  1. Hi I would reccomnd Hakkasan - Asian cuisine, 24 - in Tower 42 Old Broad Street London - English Gary Rhodes, Jay Sheeky - Fish.

    Good luck

  2. There is an awesome one called Beach Blanket Babylon, here is their website, check it out, the decor is amazing, like a film set.

    www.beachblanket.co.uk

  3. Alistair Little on Greek St for the a la carte treament, small place, decor is fairly plain but the food is fantastic and the staff were excellent.

For the budget, Mem and Laz, just off upper st in highbury (Theres a pub called the bull, on the corner, it's about 4 doors up from there on the otherside of the road. Mediterranean food, really good fresh bread, always quite busy.

  4. i don't know any names but try a west indian resturant there's lots in london

  5. LITTLE BAY - the one in Battersea has bizarre decor - kinda Moroccan/Italian rococco/opera-inspired.  It has these sort of opera boxes that you go up steps to reach and can look down on diners below.  Lots of funky private booth-type seating areas too.  The food is great and the prices are very reasonable.  Have fun.

  6. Since lot's of people have mentioned Hakkasan i'll throw my lot in with them. It's a great restaurant. The jasmine tea smoked ribs are one of the nicest things I've ever eaten.

You have to phone them to book though.

It is quite expensive though. If you want to eat something a bit different try Simurgh for really tasty persian food

Or possibly pasha for moroccan (very highly rated)

  7. Waga Momas,

its a great little restaurant with supurb food. The prices's are resonable to. Cannot remember where it is though sorry.

  8. I would reccomend Hakkastan or Opium. Really nice decor and oriental food. For something more traditional I'd say Axis by the Alwych is stunning, great service and food - one of my favorite restaurants.

  9. The Rainforest Cafe. Try searching for it on Google. It has amazing decorations and excellent food. Trust me you will love it!

  10. try indian resturants

  11. We all went to a Ghanian restaurant in London which had 1m high load speakers, and I ordered Quail which arrived looking like it had been taken outside and torched in petrol.

It was an unusual atmosphere and should not be missed...if you want to bomb somewhere.

  12. Caligulette on Bromley High Street (not strictly London) is a mediterranian restaurant decorated with coloulms and curtains, great food and their fruit platter for dessert has to be seen to be believed.

Manna is a vegetarian restaurant whoose food is good enough to make a carnivour think life would be possible without meat.

Its on Primrose Hill which is nice for a walk  after your  meal.

  13. Hakkasan- such cool decor and amazing dim sum- delicious- good for celebrity spotting too

The Crazy Bear- really cool place and fantastic food, very secluded dining

Maggiores- has real life blossom trees inside and a cool open roof in the summer

Gilgamesh- unbelievable decor, literally amazing interior

Smiths of Smithfield- great views over the rooftops of the market

The Oxo Tower- has great views over London

  14. CVO firevault on Gt Titchfield street.

  15. Blue Elephant in Fulham is the most amazing thai restaurant I've ever been. there's a stream winding through the restaurant and you've got to cross a bridge with fish swimming underneath. The taster menu is something like 30 quid and is delcious. you get all three courses...cocktails are pretty delish as well. All in all 1000%!

  16. Alcasbah on Hampstead High Street. Its a Moroccan place and they have sisha there too. The decor is fabulous and the food is GREAT. You can spend £60 on dinner and be happy with what you got, it ain't that expensive. The northen line (tube) will take you straight next to it.

  17. there is a new moroccan cuisine that opened in edgware road called sidi maarouf..

the place is very nice and the decor is superb, and the food was nice..

    i recommend that for you..

or if ur boyfriend's bday is next week , then i recommend a restaurant that will open next week in kensington high street callled Caffe Concerto.. i passed by there two days ago and they were working there and the place alreaady looked fantastic that i am too eager to see when its done.. i know they do nice food and amazing cakes cause of their branch in knightsbridge (Patisserie Concerto)..

so if it is as good as i know it and with what i imagine the decor will be, it will be a great hit...

so i hope ur boyfriend's bday will be late in next week so u can take him there..

    anyway, its ur choice..

  18. MacDonald's is ok or if you want to splash out find a soup kitchen

but i think you need to go to an eaterie , much more fab sweetie darling than a restaurant that sells food , i mean food .....how last week !OR YOU CAN DO YOUR JOB AND COOK HIM A MEAL LIKE YOU SHOULD EACH NIGHT !

  19. you must try Archipelago on Whitfield Street near Tottenham Court Road.

They serve really unusual and exotic food from all over the world - we ate Kangaroo and crocodile - they were absolutely delicious!  The decor is fab too - really eclectic - each piece of cutlery, each glass, each chair etc is different!  A truly unique experience - you are even given a password when you book which you need to get into the restaurant!!

  20. The Blue Elephant, a Thai restaurant in Fulham, is really amazing. It can be expensive, but the food and atmosphere are amazing. There's a little river with a bridge over it within the restaurant - it's really lovely.

  21. If you like seafood there is a fantastic restaurant called cafe fish. I went there for my birthday and the food was delicious...

  22. you like thai??? theres a fab pub called churchills on kensinton church street. may not be what your looking for in this instance but i highly recommend it for a lunch. Theres about 30 things on the menu and they are all the same price about £6. its always chokkablock and can get a bit squashy but it just adds to it. As for the decor! well go and see for yourself............. Also i found a fab cous cous restarant just off Queensway ( off bayswater road) lovely and authentic, great grub if you like lamb. cosy and intimate and not expensive at all.

  23. i would recommend sarastro, the restaurant's decor is really funky and unique with vivid colours and lots of little things to look at scattered around.  Its in Convent Garden so convenient for post dinner drinks, also would heartily recommend archipalego which is a unique restaurant near warrent street.  For something romantic, there is a cool french restaurant lit entirely with candles on upper street in angel.  Good luck
