  1. Are you absolutely sure you want British cuisine? Pie and mash, whelks and vinegar? Seriously though though, try Simpsons on the Strand, Rules on Maiden Lane or the carvery at the Waldorf on Aldwych.

  2. julia has such a strange way of ansering questions dont you think !!!

  3. 'Betty's fish and fry up' on Silverman st.

  4. Tough call... Simpsons is a tradition and famous for its beef, but personally I think it extremely old fashioned. British cuisine doesn't really exist anymore at an everyday level. If you can get over to the Barbican / Smithfields there are Smiths and St Johns which serve some traditional and occassionally strange traditional fare (pigs ears!). On the strand you could go to the Admiralty Restaurant in Somerset House (great location - Modern Brit food - but mixed recent reviews). Over in Soho / Mayfair there is Alistair Little (Mod Brit with a dash of Italian), The Greenhouse and Pattersons (Ex garrick and Ritz chef).

Good  luck (for true modern British, have a curry)
