I'm off in September, what's a cool cheap area with cafes, clubs, second hand shops and interesting things to see and do? I love my techno, so the Tresor club will be getting a visit!

  1. We (a family of four) stayed in an area near the Hakkeschermarkt (Butchers' Market) area in the former East Berlin. We were able to walk to many interesting places.  Whatever you do, try to stay in the old East Berlin, because it is much more interesting than the old West Berlin.  Probably less expensive, too.

  2. Hi, you can stay at the ymca youth hostel. Its cheap and central.

  3. Here is the web side for all the techno clubs in Berlin

    www.loveparade.de

You will find all  kinds of clubs with direction how

to get there. Most of them are located in the former

East Berlin area. Unfortunately they closed the "Tresor"

a year ago, but my favored club is "Watergate".

There is also a good place to hang out ,like "Strand-bars"

they are all over the town, where you meet cool people ,listen to

house music, have your beer and being outside.

Second hand shops and cool stores are in "Mitte, Kreuzberg,

Schoeneberg- Nollendorfplatz. And try to use the subway,Berlin

has the best public transportation in Europe.

  4. I went to Berlin last month and I stayed at a place called Kolo 77 off of Kolostrasse. Very cheap, only 45 Euro per night.  It was only 7 minutes from the zoo, aquarium and Hard Rock and 13 minutes from the Hardenburger Tor and 18 minutes from the wall.  It is not a bad area, but it could've been better, but I didn't expect valets and such for 45 Euro a night.
