  1. You can search and choose hotel information, rates and availability for free in over 200 countries world wide at my profile.

  2. you can try this one http://www.hotelenthusiast.com/winter/Ve... or if you're looking for something else, I've stayed in this apartment http://www.holiday-velvet.com/venice/ven... and had a great experience

  3. Hotel Firenze is an excellent choice just steps away from Piazza San Marco. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/san_m...

Hotel Selvadego is even closer. Less than a minute from the front door to Piazza San Marco. I stay here for Carnevale. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/san_m... The breakfast room is in another hotel a couple of minute walk from the Selvadego, but it's a good breakfast in a room overlooking the Grand Canal.

If you're looking for something cheaper, you might consider the Residenza Ca' San Marco between Rialto and Piazza San Marco. It has good reviews from previous guests and it a good price for the location. http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/san_m...

Other possibilities might include Hotel Campiello http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/caste...

    Hotel Canaletto http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/caste...

You can also use the Venere site to look for other options.http://en.venere.com/hotels_venice/ I've been using this site for several years here in Italy and have never had a problem or been disappointed with the result. You can narrow down your choice by the region of a city and then sort by price, rating, ect. There are reviews by previous guests to help get a feel for what to expect.

Prices in Venice can vary widely depending on the season and what's going on. In general, the cheaper options will be near the train station or on Lido island, but there can be some excellent choices closer to San Marco.

  4. I also recommend Venere.com! Here are a few hotels that we really liked and that didn't cost a fortune! And DO try to stay IN Venice and not on the Lido or the mainland--it's really worth it!

Locanda Sant'Agostin (great location; high class place; average for 2: €98 )

    http://www.locandasantagostin.it/html_en...

Residenza del Doge (a B&B; HOT breakfast; ask for a canal view--great location; average for 2: €140)

Ca' San Polo (nice; good for families; almost impossible to find; neat neighborhood--pay in cash, get discount; average for 2: €160)

We also rented an apartment from the Hotel Al Palazzo Lion Morosini which was really neat! (The hotel looked wonderful as well!) Average for 2: €120 per night.

And stay away from the Hotel Airone--worst night of our lives!

p.s. and when in Venice, it sure is fun to see some great opera (for VERY few Euros!) at the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista!

p.s. Here's a good Venice site with a decent interactive map:

p.p.s. Have a wonderful time and know that you're never lost for long, but enjoy getting lost in Venezia! (& have a campari spritz for me! Ciao!)

  5. welcome

  6. Try this website http://www.travel-europe.org You can search on hotels on customer ratings, rates (single/double), location near certain landmarks (airport), city map etc. There's also information on what to see in venice on the same website.
