  1. Where do you live? Next specify the type of kayak you want. Try a classified ad in your local newspaper. Find the nearest kayak/canoe group. Few shops will take trades but they may post offers. Many boating clubs build their own.  Try the newstand for kayak/canoe magazines, most run an annual catalog issue.
