I want to accept credit cards - but, due to all the controversy, wish to steer clear of paypal. Can anyone recommend a reliable company - without all the excessive statement and gateway fees?

  1. Yes !!

I am with a company ( An Ex Bank Manager )who is a great stickler for honesty

He has bee n putting together a company for 6 years  from when i met him,

Along the way we have been touched , (stolen ) for money by at least Three Money Houses that everyone will know who I mean.

He has a Money Transfer, Visa Debit Card Program coming out soon I think one-  two weeks.

It has every stage of a Business requirement too, Phones, e-mail , x-wire for security and is very consious of security.

It is a worry handling money over the net

I believe the rates are better than the other you mentioned , It is also po ssible for children from 14 years There is a special clause for them

I have used other Money Transfer Houses , but I dont like that I put Money into One Money House and need to join another one to get my money out. Makes me nervous.

I know this Banker was investigated by High Up Authorities in London to check him out,It took 10 months, Of course he came through with flying colours.

  2. You have to pay a gateway fee, that goes to the gateway provider such as Veri-Sign(now paypal), Authorize.net, or LinkPoint(proprietary to first data i dont recommend)

Veri-sign is 59.95 monthly plus .10$ per transaction additional after 1000 transactions montly

    Set-up is 249.00

    www.paypal.com

    Auth. net 180.00$ set-up fee

    10.00 monthly

.05$ per transaction additional fee after 250 transactions

    www.authorize.net

Linkpoint is free setup and low maintenance fees, but First Data is a Crook. They will rip you off and limit your account and keep your money like paypal.

Then there's skipjack, great customer service, 6$monthly, and .04$ per transaction

    79$ set-up fee.

    www.skipjack.com

After this you will need a merchant account. Run from those that offer you free stuff, they will more than make up for it on your rates within a few months.

Don't get any proprietary gateway, that means you can only use them.

Don't sign a term contract, 3 years, 1 year and so on.

Every company charges a statement fee, should be around 5-10$.

Other than that there shouldnt be any monthly minimum fees or other monthly fees, unless its for an online reporting tool, but you wont need that with a gateway, you can just login and see everything through the gateway.

Ask for Straight Pass-Through on all the surcharges, otherwise they will pad your surcharges like crazy and rip you off.

look on their BBB rating, don't accept anything less than AAA

    rating

If you'd like I can help you out, I work with US Merchant Services, www.usmerchantservices.net, if not follow the guidelines i mentioned for pricing.

  3. Depends on your local region and if you want to become a merchant in your own right or use a third party merchant.

  4. You still need to go through the banks to have a merchant facility account.

Payment gateway and merchant facility is 2 seperate services

You have to have both to accept credit cards online

Merchant facility - an account where you cna accept a credit card payment ( this attracts credit card merchant fees eg 2.5% on sale)

Payment gateway - Is internet access into the ATM network, it will attract a fixed rate fee eg. 30-50c per transaction and ussually total value of the sale has no impact.

Both services don't need to be with the same bank or organisation. But for quick transfer of funds, the merchant account should be with the same bank you have your business account with.

  5. Completely reliable. They beat all quotes. Free equipment and software! Free training. No application fee, no set-up fee, no annual fee!

  6. I totally agree...try this guy he understands my business and the service is great.
