Can anyone recommend a good site to run my social group on?

Question

I run a group on Yahoo which is absolutely fine but I find the lack of other functionalities really frustrating and it could run so much better.

I don't have time or patience to build my own site and wondered if anyone could recommend a good site that offers the same facilities as Yahoo and much more!

I've already looked at MSN, Google, My Space, Facebook and Bebo so after some different recommendations.
