  1. i was looking into buying a Nikon d40/d60 , but both a really poor , I've always used a digital camera, and i have just bought my very first DSLR , i bought the Sony A200 , it an amazing camera , its extremely cheap and very very good, I'm very impressed by it , canon are majorly over priced and i feel Nikon are a much better brand than Canon anyway , the Sony A200 was the best entered DSLR camera of 2007/2008 , if your a beginner like me i would defiantly go for the Sony A series , depending on how much money you have to spend id looking into the higher song A's such as the 200k or the 350/350k

    hope this was helpful

    good luck

  2. You could look at Panasonic and Olympus.

These two manufacturers are at least putting a lot of R&D into their products where Nikon and Cannon are now starting to loose this race. However both Cannon and Nikon make great cameras.

  3. Canon, overpriced and fast getting left behind, poor build quality on entry level models.

Nikon, not many features on entry level models.

Pentax, full featured, good build quality. Good lens quality even on the kit lens, they don't make a plastic mounts - unlike others! Best value by far - you see where I'm heading with this?

When you buy a DSLR you are buying into a system, you'll spend more on lenses, flashes etc. than you did on the original camera.

  4. CAnon EOS XSI/450D

    very practical:

    Good points

    Good handling and image quality.

Decent viewfinder and accurate Live View.

    Kit includes stabilised lens.

    PC remote control software supplied.

    Bad points

Live View not as fuss-free as Sony A350.

Screen fixed in position, unlike A350.

Some may find it too small and light.

Tempting to upgrade further to EOS 40D.

Got myself a canon EOS 450D..it's great.

  5. The DSLR I recommend is the one that feels the most comfortable in your hands, forget about make or model, most entry level DSLR's are similar in specification.

  6. Canon And Nikon

    Are Pretty Great Camera

    Brand Actually

    They're The Best You Can

    Purchase Today..

You didn't mention which ones you were looking at, and the prices vary alot with the canon EOS line of cameras. The canon eos 350d is around 450$, and the canon EOS 40d is around one thousand, there's a big difference..

but, if you didn't want to spend so much money, you should get this camera: it's the rebel xt ( eos 350d ) and it's around four hundred and fifty dollars:

oh, and don't mind the price, it should be around four hundred and fifty dollars, don't pay for it if it's more, that's a beginner camera.

however, if you have more money, around one thousand dollars, and more megapixels, larger size:

    those are great choices:

  7. I have an XT, and it's a pretty good camera. There are higher-end models now, but because the XT is a few years old you can save a couple hundred dollars on it.

If price is an issue, don't forget to factor in the fact that lenses cost a lot of money too.

  8. I'm a fan of Canon, to be honest. I used to own Canon EOS 350D and it was my baby - small, light-weight and very good! It's since been superceeded by 400D, so I'd go for that if I were you.

  9. I am going to get lots of thumbs downs, as I am going to mention the 'P' word.

    Yes, PENTAX.

    I have a K110D and K200D.
