Can anyone recommend a good topic from Latin America or Canadian history to do a history paper on?

Can anyone recommend an interesting topic from Latin America or Canadian history to do a history paper on? Preferably a topic that is interesting and has a lot of information on it. The topic has to have a question in it that is quite specific.

Latin America:

History of the native civilizations Mayans, Incas, Aztecs, etc

and/or the confrontation between the Spanish and the Incas & Incas and eventual colonization of Latin America

Canada:

Life of the native Canadian Indians and/or Canada's role in the American Revolution as a loyal British territory.

   How about what do we owe the Canadian government for saving the American embassy workers during the Shah of Iran turmoil?

How about a history of privateering and buccaneering?

That would cover Nova Scotia, Jamaica, and a lot of other places, and allow you to tell some good privateer tales, like "The Ballad of the Rover", or sing a song, like "Barrett's Privateers".

You could also touch on the triangle trade, and Captain Morgan.

You could even talk about Blackbeard and Captain Kidd.
