Can anyone recommend a good video editing freeware?

I have recently purchased a camcorder, which comes with its own video editing software which is very basic and does not allow you much control over your end result. I already have Nero Express and Windows Movie Maker but they don't like the camcorder's files - Nero can't decode the Dolby Digital sound so makes the clips silent, and WMM refuses to allow them at all. The camcorder makes files in mpeg 2 format. I'm looking for software that can edit these files and also give me control over the file size and quality of the final edited product.

Or you may try this all-in-one video editor, my friends recommend it to me, it's not free, but it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, it embeds many special effects. I had made a video with it and the video got award, that's pretty cool.

Pinnacle Videospin is a free download that you can continue to use free. It handles a lot of newer formats as well.
