Question:

Can anyone recommend a ladies wetsuit that would be good for both sea swimming and surfing?

I'm just a beginner for both these sports, but am looking to get an entry level suit that will work for both. Will I be able to get anything decent in the region of £100 - 150?

Have been trawling all the usual websites, but the only wetsuits specified as cross trainers are the cheapy ones that probably aren't good for anything except chafing and falling apart. Should I buy a triathlon wetsuit to cover the swimming, which will then 'do' for starting surfing? Or will that get knackered too quickly if I'm bouncing off the pebbles?

Secondly, what thickness should I be looking for? I'm based in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, South Coast UK.

Thanks v much!

  1. check out mares.com, waterproof.com, hendersonusa.com - they make scuba diving wetsuits, but they are VERY durable and come in various thickness.  I am not familiar with the water temp in the UK, but you could get a trilastic wetsuit; it's 7mm in the torso, 5mm on the base of arms and legs and 3mm at the end of the arms and legs (i believe) - this type is good for all sorts of sports.  but if you are interested in just one size, i would go with a 5mm wetsuit.
