I live in Spain so am not in know about any new places that may have opened - ideally either in Nottinghill, Bond Street area or Knighsbridge. Thanks!

  1. My favourite is Scalini's in Walton Street, Knightsbridge. Best Italian I have ever ever been to in the UK. Below is a link, plus a write up in Waitrose magazine by Frankie Dettori, who as you will see, says its his favourite too.

  2. Italian - Bella Arvia (spelling?) On Willesden High Road is delicious and fairly cheap but high quality food.

  3. I went to Timo on High Street Kensington a couple of weeks ago and mentioned to my girlfriend that this is exactly the type of place I'd bring my mum. Adult clientele (>30) and excellent service and food. I think we spent £85 for the two of us which included a bottle of wine (be careful here, they start at £21 and end at £480; I went for a £25 bottle which was better than average).

Anyway, quality food and quality service. Your mum will be pleased. It's quite far east on the High Street, towards the Olympia Hilton.

    Cheers.

  4. Signor Sassi on Knightsbridge Green. Sole Proprietor: Mario. General Manager: Donato. (An unforgettable culinary experience.)

  5. it will all be booked out by now try taking her to  tea at the Orangery in Kensington Gardens they have the most exquisite macaroons similar to Laduree...

  6. It may already be too late to book for Mother's Day as restaurants get busy so far in advance.  There is a good website that you could use: www.toptable.co.uk and you can then search for area, restaurant, date, time etc. and you may find something on there.  Good luck.

  7. CHECK out some of the places around Covent garden

  8. I like The Wolseley in Piccadilly. Foods good, service excellent and the prices are quite reasonable. You may struggle to get in though, so log on to http://www.london-eating.com and search on there.

  9. Probably too late for Mother's day, and it's not new, but Julie's in Holland Park (just down the road from Notting Hill) sounds just what you're after. It doesn't seem to have changed at all in the 20 years I've known it, but I mean that in a god way! It's relaxed and slightly bohemian, the decor is interesting and the food reliable and lovingly cooked. I've never had a bad time there.
