I'd like them to deal with the details but leave me some independence.

  1. getting around vn on your own is very easy if you stay on the "tourist trail" [ the main cities, etc] all you'll need is a good guide book [ most people carry "lonely planet"] and an open bus ticket[ "tm brothers", "sinh cafe"  are 2 of the more populare companies] you can make arrangements once you get to ha noi or sai gon.i recommend you head straight for the "old city"[ "old town"] ha noi[ the hoan kiem lake district] or de tham & pham ngu lau streets in sai gon. there you will find many tour companies to get an open bus ticket or book covienient day tours. you can also get moto bike drivers to take you any place you want...[ be specific in every detail when negotiating a price]... enjoi

  2. go buy a DVD on Phong Su, since most of us don't live in VN.....

  3. the only company i know is DO NOT GO THERE !!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Intertripid (spelling?) seem to do good tours.

I arrived home from Vietnam this morning! I'm 26 and was travelling with a 33 year old. Had a ball!
