We are taking our Honeymoon in Provence and staying just outside Arles. We are renting a car to see the area, can anyone recommend great wineries in that region that we should not miss?

  1. Go up to Avignon - Then Gigondas Village - in which there's an interprofessional shop which proposes South Rhones, mainly Gigondas, in all the available productions - there's no

particular benefit so that the prices are the ones you would pay directly from producers, in their farm - When you're embarassed in your choice, do like me, call your hotel and ask the sommelier directly from the shop : " Hi - these are the producers I can see x y and z - which one should I buy ?" My method

Otherwise in Avignon ask in the tourist office for the locations of direct Chateauneuf-du-Pape in domains - Personal tip : buy CDP white : few people know it -

Coteaux du Ventoux and Coteaux du Lubéron and Coteaux d'Aix can be little gems and cheaper - can find them in same conditions - for Lubéron it would be Apt ( city ) Ventoux - Vaison la Romaine ( city ) and Aix - well Aix ( or Palette on the N6 road to Nice )

Question for vain copy-pasters : which one is origin controlled

Chateau Simone or Chateau Lacoste ??? - and does it belong to , Lubéron, Aix or Ventoux wines ?

Languedoc- Roussillon is not close to Arles - produce also horrible wines - Mondain sloan rangers' blabla - learn the price of silence

Copy-paste does not make a reply

  2. The whole of Provence and Languedoc - Rousillon has some fantastic wineries...

the following website will give you the names of wineries near Arles (the list is in a cream colur background on the left of the page. Sorry, the site is in french only)

I would recommend you drive north towards Avignon (try visiting Chateauneuf du Pape) and a bit further northeast,  near Orange the Gigondas winery . Their wines are superb.

Here is a site with the names of most of the best wineries in the Rhône valley area.

You can also ask at your hotel, they will probably be able to inform you which wineries have visiting days/hours.

Congratulations on your wedding... I wish you  a wonderful honeymoon in France! :-)
