there are different areas in Rome for night life.

Trastevere - nice for the evening, restaurants and pubs.

Campo de fiori - Piazza navona - more late at night, american and italian bars and pubs, they shut at 2.

Testaccio - discos and bars open untill morning

watch out in Campo de Fiori and Testaccio . these places are very busy and can be dangerous.

if you come in the summer then there are more discos by the beach in Ostia.

The best place to go is Piazza Navona where there is loads of cafes and bars that stay open until 2-3am.

I highly recommend Druid's Rock - Great "Irish" pub, also the Friends Cafe is great in Trastevere, and the Glass Bar is very cool in Trastevere as well!
