  1. For inexpensive you will need to get out of the hotel zone and go down into Cancun

  2. There really isn't ANYTHING close to the Westin at all.  It's on the extreme southern tip of the hotel zone, far from the more commercial areas.

Your best option is to catch the bus into town (30-60 minute ride, depending on stops).  Get off the bus when you are away from the hotel zone, off Blvd Kukulcan, in what is the busy Centro of Cancun.  Then just walk around until you see a place that looks interesting.  Many places display their menu at the door.  If you're brave, eat at the food carts instead, but pick one that has a crowd around it, as those are the best and freshest.  Cancun is not really known for good local food as much as it is for catering to the tastes of tourists.

However, there ARE a couple of good Yucatecan restaurants in town.  Ask at the hotel for the names and locations.  Unfortunately, it will probably take a pretty expensive taxi ride to get there and back.

The folks at the Westin are VERY friendly and will help you if you ask for suggestions.  If you get a chance to meet Luis, a fantastic bartender there, make sure you get one of his most excellent mango coladas and treat him well!  He's a sweetheart.

  3. Call the experts that are there in Cancun 1-888-862-3806 They will help you. These guys know their stuff and have the insight. Great prices, great service too.
